The following was sent from VT Campus Crusade director Jeff Highfield:
I hope and pray that you are doing well as you serve the Lord. God has again been so kind to us here with Campus Crusade for Christ this year and even this semester. So far this semester we have seen 3 students place their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. It is humbling to be a part of what God is doing in the lives of students and I want to say thank you for all you to do help college students know Jesus and grow in their faith.
This spring break we have a great opportunity to participate in a ministry of good news and good deeds. We will be heading to Charleston, WV to serve local churches and ministries in a variety of ways. Some of the ministry we will do involves fixing up houses, feeding the homeless, and even doing some after school programs with local kids. We will be in Charleston and in a rural coal mining area as we serve. Our goal is to help meet the most pressing needs while sharing about our reason for spending our break doing this work and that is because of the love of Jesus.
To make this trip successful we need to gather lots of materials that we will use while we serve others. Most of the materials we will use during the week will be provided by the organization we are working with but there are several things we need that will allow us to serve in the greatest way possible. Would you be willing to send out this list and ask folks to email me if they can help? Here is the list of materials that we need:
– 20 paint brushes
– 20 paint rollers
– drop cloths
– used paint in neutral colors
– Roofing sealant for mobile homes
– Caulk
– screws
– nails – roofing and regular
– Plywood
– Trash BagsPlease let me know if you are able to ask your church about these needs. Please have them email me so that I can organize and keep track of all that we have.
Thanks again for all you are doing to serve the Lord.
Isn’t He Great,
Jeff
